Who Needs To File Income Tax Returns in Pakistan?

The following individuals and entities are required to file an Income Tax Return for the relevant tax year under the Income Tax Ordinance (2001). Please verify if you fall into any of these categories:

Any registered company in Pakistan.
An individual (other than a company) whose taxable income exceeds the minimum threshold of Rs. 400,000.
A non-profit organization (NPO).
An individual who owns immovable property with an area of 250 square yards or more.
An individual who owns a motor vehicle with an engine capacity exceeding 1000 CC.

What is Wealth Statement?

Every resident individual is required to submit a Wealth Statement, along with a reconciliation, for the specific tax year in which they are filing their Income Tax Return. The Wealth Statement must include the following details:

Personal assets and liabilities of the individual.
Assets and liabilities of the individual’s spouse, children, and minors. In the case of dependents, their assets and liabilities must also be disclosed.
Assets that were gifted, sold, or transferred to another person during the relevant tax year.
A detailed account of total expenses incurred by the individual, spouse, children, and dependents during the tax year.
A reconciliation of wealth, comparing the current year’s wealth with the previous year’s, along with the income of the current year.
